What does "launch" mean in each app?
The word covers three different situations, and the app doesn't tell you which is which:
- SimulcastThe episode is added to the app on the same day it airs in Asia, sometimes hours later. This is the case for iQIYI and WeTV originals, Netflix weekly dramas, and the season's anime on Crunchyroll.
- Exclusive: The service holds certain distribution rights. Exclusivity may be limited by territory and period; it does not necessarily mean full ownership of the work or its permanent inclusion in the catalog.
- Licensed collection: TV series from previous years rented for a fixed term. That's what comes in and goes out most often.
When an app announces "new features of the week," it mixes all three. The difference becomes apparent on the day you search for the title and it has changed location.
Why does the episode arrive on iQIYI and WeTV on the same day?
iQIYI and WeTV distribute Chinese and other market productions. Some premieres have an international release close to their original airing, but this needs to be confirmed in the program's schedule. To convert time zones, Beijing is 11 hours ahead of Brasília; this difference alone does not determine when the episode will be released in Brazil.
The services combine free episodes and VIP offers. Subscriptions may include early access and exclusive titles, depending on the plan. Check the series page to see which episodes are available and on what date; don't assume that all blocks will disappear after a few days or that a trial promotion will apply to every account.
Both services feature period dramas, fantasy, and romance, among other productions. Languages vary by title and region. Check the subtitles for the episode you intend to watch and see if the service has announced the arrival of other tracks. Viki: the legend is born while you wait.
Viki brings together productions from different Asian countries and relies on community participation in the subtitles. The episode page may show the translation progress. This number helps you decide whether you want to watch now or wait, but it doesn't offer a guaranteed timeframe for completion.
The free tier runs with ads. Viki Pass removes ads and unlocks HD. The Play Store page warns in small print that "program availability may vary by territory," and this is the phrase that explains the gray screen: Viki has the right to show "Hotel Del Luna" or "Descendants of the Sun" in some countries and not in others. Netflix and exclusives: when a K-drama only exists there.
Netflix offers subscription-based content, featuring both original and licensed productions. Some seasons are released all at once, while others have weekly episodes. Check the release schedule for titles in Brazil: the word "original" does not guarantee perpetual worldwide exclusivity nor does it prevent future changes in availability.

Anime: the Crunchyroll simulcast
Crunchyroll is an option for watching anime and checking the schedule of licensed episodes. Check the season, region, language, and subscription. Don't use old free access ads as a guarantee of the current offer. Downloads depend on the plan and compatible content; subtitles, dubbing, and premieres may have different dates.
Japan produces more than just anime: horror films, office dramas, and live-action manga adaptations. These arrive via Viki and Netflix, not Crunchyroll.

All five are available on the Play Store and the App Store. A website offering "the VIP episode for free" as an APK is selling something else entirely: screen space for ads and permissions on your phone.
Why does a title disappear or is "not available in your region"?“
The distributor of a series sells the broadcasting rights in packages: one buyer for Korea, another for the United States, and another for Latin America. Each contract has a term. When Netflix and Viki show different catalogs for the same drama, it's because each one bought a piece of the distribution map.
The message “not available in your region” appears when the app has the title in a certain country, but not in yours. The opposite also happens: a Chinese drama that Brazil receives on WeTV may not play in the United States. None of this is a defect of the app or the phone.
The expiration of a license may remove a title from the catalog. It may return or migrate to another distribution, but this is not guaranteed. Productions identified as originals may also have different rights and agreements; do not treat the label as a promise of permanent availability. Check for any departure notices on the program's page.
How to find out which app a title is on.
There's a shorter way than installing all five and searching in each one:
- Search Google for the title's name along with "where to watch." The results panel will list the streaming services that offer the title in Brazil.
- Search for the name in English or romanized form within the app. Viki, iQIYI, and WeTV list the international title; the Portuguese translation varies from service to service.
- Open the title page and tap follow or add to list. All five apps notify you when a new episode is uploaded, and on Viki the list shows the percentage of subtitles completed.
- If the series hasn't premiered yet, check the date on the original broadcaster's page converted to Brazilian time: minus 12 hours for Korea and Japan, minus 11 for China.

Free or paid: what changes on launch day?
In both free and paid services, subscriptions may offer early access, exclusive titles, and additional features. Advertising helps support the released videos, but it doesn't mean all content will become free in the future. Compare the program's offerings, as well as the general plan description.
An older series may also require a subscription, and a new series may have free promotional episodes. What matters is the condition displayed for that title on your account. Image quality and internet
The free tier of Asian apps usually stops at SD or 720p; iQIYI's 1080p and Viki's HD are benefits of the paid plan, as the app descriptions themselves state. Netflix delivers the resolution of the contracted plan, and WeTV advertises 4K in its TV version.
Check the speed recommended by the service itself for your desired resolution. Wi-Fi signal, other connected devices, and stability also influence the speed. If the video freezes, try a lower quality if the option is available and check the data consumption. Setting it to 480p does not guarantee that all playback issues will disappear.
How to watch new releases on your Smart TV
Find the official app in your TV's app store and check compatibility with your model and region. Mobile and TV versions may have different features and requirements. If the app is not available, check if the service offers one of these alternatives for your plan:
- Transmit from mobile phone: Google Cast or AirPlay, when supported by the service, plan, and receiver. These features are not equivalent to mirroring the entire screen, which may be blocked by content protection.
- External device: A streaming device can expand compatibility, but check the list of apps and requirements before buying. The TV brand is no longer the only factor, but service support is still necessary.
The account is the same on all screens. Start the episode on your phone on your way home and finish it on TV, picking up where you left off.

Do the apps have Korean and Japanese films?
Yes, with a clear division. Viki and Netflix focus on Korean and Japanese live-action content; Crunchyroll handles anime; iQIYI and WeTV have a strong Chinese presence and some licensed Korean content. No single app covers everything; the best combination is one free app plus one paid app.
Why did the drama disappear from the app I was watching it on?
License expiration is a possibility, as is a regional change or temporary problem. Check the title notice and service support. There is no guarantee of return, and productions labeled as originals should not be treated as permanently available.
Does the new episode arrive on the same day for those who don't pay?
It depends on the title, the plan, and the regional schedule. Some services offer free initial episodes or early access for subscribers; others require a subscription for access. Check the series' page and don't assume that a paid episode will become free after a fixed period.
Can I download the episode and watch it offline?
Use the official download option when available for the title, account, and device. Rules vary by service; it's incorrect to assume that all offline functionality is exclusive to any paid plan. Check validity, available space, and download completion before disconnecting from the internet.
Will the Portuguese subtitles be released with the episode?
Not always. Availability should be checked in the episode and on the service's calendar. Community translations may be in progress, and platforms may also release languages at different times. Without a deadline announcement, don't count on the subtitles being ready on the same day.
Do I need more than one app to keep track of releases?
It depends on your list. One app might gather all the titles you follow, or they might be split across multiple services. Research before subscribing and consider switching subscriptions based on your usage, respecting billing periods and season availability.
