Before installing an antivirus, check Play Protect on the Google Play Store. Open the profile, go to Play Protect, and observe the result and date of the last scan displayed on the screen. This record is a starting point for investigating the device; there's no need to assume when the scan occurred.<\/p>\n

Android with Google services offers a built-in layer of protection against malicious applications. Additional tools may offer further analysis, but the scope varies by product and system permissions. Android already runs a built-in verification process: Play Protect.<\/h2>\n

Play Protect comes built into the Play Store.   4. Tap Check. The screen shows the apps being checked and finishes in less than a minute on most devices.<\/li>\n
  5. Tap the gear icon and turn on both switches: \u201cVerify apps with Play Protect\u201d and \u201cImprove detection of harmful apps.\u201d The second one sends unknown apps for analysis by Google.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The names of the results vary depending on the version and the situation encountered. A "no detection" warning records the check performed at that moment. If an application is flagged, check its name, the reason given, and the recommended action. A message about disabled protection requests a review of the configuration; it does not prove an infection.<\/p>\n

    The scope of Play Protect and its complementary tools<\/h2>\n

    Play Protect checks apps for harmful behavior, including apps obtained outside the store, and may request analysis of unknown software. A complementary antivirus has its own detection scope, defined by the manufacturer and the access allowed by Android. It is incorrect to assume that any security app can open all files on the device or detect everything that another tool did not find.<\/p>\n

    Modified applications installed outside of official channels deserve attention regarding their origin and permissions. This does not mean that every copy contains the same malware.
