It&#039;s the commission the store pays the app for bringing you there, and the app shares that amount with you. This explains almost everything that&#039;s confusing in the statement: why the money remains &quot;pending&quot; for weeks, why there&#039;s a minimum withdrawal amount, and why a coupon copied from another website can zero out what you would be entitled to receive.<\/p>\n<p>The numbers are concrete. At M\u00e9liuz, redeeming your balance through the app&#039;s own account starts at R$$ 20; at Cuponomia, the minimum to send cashback to a bank account is also R$$ 20. Both values are on each app&#039;s official page on Google Play, which I checked before writing, as well as the ratings and downloads of each app mentioned here.<\/p>\n<h2>Where does the cashback money come from?<\/h2>\n<p>Every large store has an affiliate program: it pays a percentage of the sale to whoever brought in the customer. A cashback app is a giant affiliate. When you tap &quot;go to store&quot; within the app, the link loads a tracking code; the store registers that the visit came from there and, if the purchase is completed, credits the commission to the app. The app keeps a portion and returns the other to you in the form of credit.<\/p>\n<p>That&#039;s why the percentage changes from store to store and, within the same store, from category to category: each retailer negotiates its own commission. It also explains why cashback disappears when you buy without going through the app: without the tracking code, the store doesn&#039;t pay commission to anyone, and there&#039;s no amount to share.<\/p>\n<p>Credit card cashback has a different source, but with the same logic: it comes from the fee that the card network and issuer charge the merchant on each purchase, and the bank returns a portion to you to encourage you to use their card.<\/p>\n<h2>The three cashback families on mobile<\/h2>\n<p>The apps refund money in three situations, each with its own rules:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Buy online through the app.<\/strong> You open M\u00e9liuz, Cuponomia, or Zoom, choose the store, tap the button, and complete the purchase on their website. It&#039;s the classic model, with tracking via link and a confirmation timeframe.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Physical store.<\/strong> Through the sales receipt (M\u00e9liuz Nota Fiscal returns part of the value of participating products in supermarkets and pharmacies when you send the receipt through the app) or through the cashback credit card, which returns a fixed percentage of any purchase.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Payment and top-up.<\/strong> Mobile phone top-ups offer cashback on M\u00e9liuz and Cuponomia (the latter covers Tim, Vivo, and Claro); Cuponomia also returns part of the value of gift cards for Google Play, Uber, PSN, and Xbox.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Why is cashback &quot;pending&quot; and for how long?<\/h2>\n<p>After the purchase, the statement shows the amount as pending. Nothing is wrong. The store only pays the commission to the app after confirming that the sale is finalized, that is, after the exchange, return, and cancellation period has passed. If you return the product, the commission is refunded and the cashback is credited along with it.<\/p>\n<p>The cashback confirmation period is defined by the store and program rules, not by a general minimum period established by law. Returns, cancellations, and order validation may affect payment. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planalto.gov.br\/ccivil_03\/leis\/l8078compilado.htm\">Consumer Protection Code<\/a> It provides for a seven-day right of withdrawal for purchases made outside of a commercial establishment, calculated as per article 49; this alone does not define the cashback schedule.<\/p>\n<h3>What each statement status means<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Registered or pending:<\/strong> The store acknowledged that the visit came from the app and the purchase was tracked. There&#039;s still no money available.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Confirmed:<\/strong> The store paid the commission. The amount is yours, but it may be below the minimum for withdrawal.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Available:<\/strong> The confirmed balance has reached the minimum and can be transferred.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Canceled:<\/strong> The store reported a return, cancellation, unauthorized coupon, or untracked order. This is an avoidable status.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>How to read the store&#039;s listing before clicking &quot;buy&quot;.<\/h2>\n<p>The store&#039;s listing within the app is the contract. Read it in this order:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Percentage and calculation basis.<\/strong> Check if the percentage applies to the value of the products or to the total including shipping. In most stores, shipping and taxes are not included.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Excluded categories.<\/strong> A store might return 5% worth of clothing but nothing in cell phones. The number highlighted in the window display is usually the largest in the store, not the average.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Confirmation deadline.<\/strong> That&#039;s the length of time the money will remain pending.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coupon rules.<\/strong> The form indicates whether it accepts coupons from outside sources or only those listed there. This line determines if you receive one.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Payment terms.<\/strong> Some stores do not pay commission on products from partner sellers, on gift vouchers, or on orders paid for with balance from another promotion.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>M\u00e9liuz: over a thousand stores and cashback on your receipt.<\/h2>\n<p>M\u00e9liuz surpasses 10 million downloads on Google Play, with a 4.7 rating based on over 1.3 million reviews. Its profile lists cashback at more than a thousand online stores, including Amazon, Magazine Luiza, Casas Bahia, Shopee, AliExpress, and Shein.<\/p>\n<p>The key difference is M\u00e9liuz Nota Fiscal: you buy participating products at the supermarket or pharmacy, photograph the receipt through the app, and receive part of the value back, redeemable via Pix. For those who want cashback on every purchase, there&#039;s the M\u00e9liuz credit card, with no annual fee, which returns up to 2%: 1% on any purchase and another 1% at partner stores purchased through the app. With the M\u00e9liuz Account, balance redemption is instant starting from R$ 20. The listing mentions over 2,000 partner stores, including Mercado Livre, Magalu, Shopee, and KaBuM!. The process is the same as M\u00e9liuz, with one detail highlighted in the listing: you tap &quot;activate cashback&quot; on the store&#039;s page before making purchases, and this tap activates the tracking.<\/p>\n<p>The cashback to your bank account starts at R$ 20 accumulated in your statement. Recharging Tim, Vivo, and Claro mobile services returns part of the value, as do gift cards for Google Play, Uber, PSN, and Xbox purchased through the app. Referrals earn R$ 5 cashback for both the referrer and the new user. It has 10 million downloads and a 4.6 rating.<\/p>\n<p>The advantage is seeing, on the same screen, which store has the lowest price and which gives back the most: a product that is R$ 30 more expensive with 5% cashback is still more expensive. Ame Digital was left out because I couldn&#039;t find its listing to check.<\/p>\n<h2>How to combine cashback and coupons without losing either one.<\/h2>\n<p>The rule that most often cancels cashback is the coupon rule. The store pays a commission to an affiliate per sale: if you enter through M\u00e9liuz and paste a coupon obtained from another website into your cart, the store can attribute the sale to the owner of that coupon, and the app loses the commission it would share with you. The sequence that preserves both:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the cashback app and go to the store&#039;s page.<\/li>\n<li>Read the information sheet: percentage, excluded categories, and the line &quot;accepts external coupons&quot; or &quot;only app coupons&quot;.<\/li>\n<li>Copy the coupon listed there, if available.<\/li>\n<li>Tap \u201cgo to store\u201d or \u201cactivate cashback\u201d and complete your purchase in the same session, without leaving for another app.<\/li>\n<li>Paste the coupon into your cart, complete the checkout process, and save the order number.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Stores with their own in-app coupons, such as Shein, follow a different logic: the discount comes from the store&#039;s own points and coupon system, and cashback from outside depends on whether the account allows the combination.
